What is Zariski’s cancellation problem?

The original Zariski cancellation problem, denoted by ZCP, asks if the polynomial ring k [t 1, · · ·, t n], where k is a field, is cancellative. A recent result of Gupta [Gu1, Gu2] settled the question ZCP negatively in positive characteristic for n ≥ 3. The ZCP in characteristic zero remains open for n ≥ 3
